| Cyberport and Huawei Cloud collaborate to advance Hong Kong’s AI and Web3 sectors |
While AI has the potential to profoundly transform work, life, and everything in between, cloud computing and Web3 are equally indispensable in delivering new value in the I&T-driven era. To accelerate digitalisation and advance the AI and Web3 industries, Cyberport has entered into a three-year collaboration agreement with Huawei Cloud.
Under the new memorandum of understanding (MoU), Cyberport and Huawei Cloud will seek to develop a Web3 Industry Cloud platform and technology chain. Their goal is to buttress local Web3 start-ups with robust infrastructure while also catalysing the widespread adoption and application of Web3 technologies.
Furthermore, to increase the diversity and dynamism of Hong Kong’s Web3 ecosystem, both parties will promote the Web3 Proof of Concept Subsidy Scheme and other Web3 projects launched by Cyberport. They will explore launching an accelerator programme to boost start-up development, in addition to providing specialised AI and Web3 technical trainings, competitions, hackathons, workshops, and seminars to expand the city’s I&T talent pool. Huawei Cloud has also joined the Cyberport Technology Network, providing dedicated technological support to Cyberport’s community start-ups to help them flourish.
Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, expressed optimism that the synergy between Huawei Cloud’s advanced cloud computing prowess and Cyberport’s vibrant start-up community will drive innovation and expedite the digital transformation of local SMEs. The collaboration will also enhance Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem and evolution into a smart city, and supplement Cyberport’s ongoing efforts, including the development of the city’s Web3 Hub and AI supercomputing centre.
This MoU marks an expansion of the fruitful relationship between Cyberport and Huawei Cloud. With a shared commitment to supporting start-ups and popularising emerging technologies, Cyberport has supported Huawei Cloud in hosting events such as the “TechWave Web 3.0 Special Day” and “Software Partners Go Global Summit”, as well as launching the “Go Hong Kong, Go Global” scheme for the Asia-Pacific region. |
