Cyberport has announced that, following a global search, Dr Rocky Cheng will succeed Peter Yan as CEO following the conclusion of Mr Yan’s successful tenure.
With a wealth of experience amassed over three decades in the information technology and financial industries, Dr Cheng possesses a solid background in planning and governing I&T development as well as a solid track record of managing major corporate operations and steering corporate digital strategies. He has served on Cyberport’s Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group and the HKSAR Government’s Digital Economy Development Committee and Committee on Innovation, Technology and Industry Development, among others, actively promoting the growth of the I&T sector and expanding industry networks.
Cyberport Chairman Simon Chan expressed his enthusiasm for Dr Cheng’s upcoming term: “Dr Cheng embraces a vision and passion for driving I&T development. The Board is confident in his ability to lead Cyberport in continuing its critical role as Hong Kong’s I&T flagship and entrepreneurship incubator. As Cyberport enters its 21st year and embarks upon new government-commissioned I&T initiatives, Dr Cheng’s guidance will be crucial in building on Cyberport’s strong foundation, taking our public missions forward, unlocking new frontiers for development, and injecting new momentum into Hong Kong’s evolution as an international I&T hub.”

Mr Chan expressed the Board’s appreciation to Peter Yan for his six years of service and contributions: “Under Mr Yan’s leadership, Cyberport has thrived and been recognised as a State-level Scientific and Technological Enterprise Incubator by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In recent years, Cyberport has spared no efforts in developing major I&T infrastructure such as the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre and Cyberport Phase 5 expansion, and inaugurated Web3 Hub@Cyberport. Mr Yan’s significant contributions have laid a strong foundation for Cyberport and the broader I&T industry in Hong Kong to make headway in the long run.”
