【Asia Summit on Global Health 2024】Cyberport Community Facilitates HealthTech Innovation and Collaboration Co-organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region 香港特別行政區政府 and the 香港貿發局, the two-day Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH 2024) was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 16 to 17. As a health innovation partner of ASGH 2024, Cyberport led ten start-ups to showcase innovative applications of HealthTech, Robotics, IOT and more during the exhibition. Professor Chung-mau LO, BBS, JP, Secretary for Health, also visited our pavilion to engage in discussion with our start-ups. Protabolis and Neuropix also showcased their latest technologies at separate booths during the event. This year's ASGH 2024 had the theme "Innovation．Inclusion．Impact". Within the event, Mr Ricky Choi, Cluster Lead, Smart Living of Cyberport, moderated a panel discussion titled "Empowering Healthcare with Artificial Intelligence", exploring the possibilities of AI technology in the healthcare industry. Cyberport also witnessed Cyberport Incubation Programme Alumnus Filix MedTech signing a pilot agreement with Dadvance Agarwood Solutions Sdn. Bhd. during this event. This collaboration will deepen their partnership by deploying Filix MedTech’s Traceability solution to agarwood plantations in Malaysia and applying Near-Infra-Red Rapid Testing technology on DAdvance Agarwood products including essential oils. 【Visiting Middle East】The Middle East FinTech Delegation visited the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, The nine-day itinerary concluded successfully in Abu Dhabi After Riyadh, Doha and Dubai, the delegation came to the last stop of this Middle East trip, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is also a rising global financial capital. In the morning, selected representatives from the delegation were invited to attend a meeting with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE). At the meeting, Fintech office and transformation office of #CBUAE introduced progress of their strategies covering open finance based on a hybrid centralized approach, centralized KYC for business, stablecoins regulation for banks in the UAE and CBDC pilots; Cyberport and CBUAE also discussed future collaboration with their innovation hub in the area of AI, open finance, sustainable finance and talent exchange. Another group of delegates visited the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Relying on its friendly, diverse and prosperous business environment, the financial centre has attracted many global enterprises, investment banks, financial technology companies, private equity, leading institutions, asset management companies and consulting firms. The delegation also met with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the Abu Dhabi Residents Office to understand local tech support and landing policies. In the afternoon, the delegation arrived at the office of Hub71, ADGM’s technology and innovation incubator. It is a global tech ecosystem based in Abu Dhabi, uniting top corporations and investors to foster the growth of disruptive tech startups worldwide from UAE capital. The beautiful environment, good infrastructure, friendly tax system, progressive regulatory agencies and laws and regulations more adapted to the West all give Abu Dhabi the potential to become one of the global financial centres; there are huge opportunities for cooperation lie between Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong. With this, the Middle East Fintech delegation led by 香港投資推廣署 and Cyberport came to an end. During this trip, the delegates not only deepened their understanding with all walks of life in the Middle East and laid the foundation for future cooperation; also gained precious friendships and established various connections within nine days. 【 #RACE2024 】Cyberport Driving Digital Transformation in Retail Industry to Maintain Competitive Advantage   Retail Asia Conference & Expo successfully took place last week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. 【Visiting the Middle East】Cyberport Start-ups and Delegation from Hong Kong Arrive in Dubai, UAE to Learn about the Latest Fintech Development in the Country Following a visit to Qatar Doha, a 50-member delegation of Cyberport start-ups and Hong Kong SAR representatives has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to participate in various activities, visit local financial institutions and meet with local political and business leaders to explore a wide range of cooperation opportunities. The delegation attended the "Dubai FinTech Summit 2024" organised by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in the morning of 7 May. At the event, Mr Joseph Chan, the Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB), said that Hong Kong is committed to becoming a green FinTech hub and introduced the latest developments of the Government's Green Bonds, including the Green Fintech Map, which was launched in collaboration with Cyberport. The delegation also visited the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority [VARA], the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) , the local stock exchange Dubai Financial Market, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Zand, the first digital bank to offer corporate banking with a license from the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE). In addition, Mr Victor Yim, the Head of Fintech at Cyberport, was invited by the MENA Association (MENA FINTECH ASSOCIATION) and joined dozens of representatives from the regional fintech industry to participate in a roundtable discussion on "Digital Assets: Building the Real World Future". Some of the representatives from the delegation participated in the Future Skills Forum and Mr Victor Yim represented Cyberport to join the roundtable forum "Bridging the Skills Gap at Country Level" organised by CFTE - Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship and #DubaiFutureMuseum in the afternoon of 8 May.
