November in Hong Kong was marked by the thunderous revving of engines as the city played host to the first-ever FIA World Rallycross Championship Season Finale in the Asia-Pacific region – brought to life by two Cyberport community companies: organiser RX (HK) Management Limited and event partner Formula Square, a Cyberport start-up specialising in real virtuality (RV) motor racing.
Over three action-packed days, international racers went head-to-head on a challenging mixed-surface circuit at the Central Harbourfront Event Space, battling it out on both asphalt and gravel to the delight of motorsport fans.
To fuel the excitement for rallycross and RV racing, Formula Square collaborated with HOY TV to create a reality show, featuring celebrity and public contestants competing with mechanical model cars on a track, where action was relayed in real-time through immersive visuals.
Adding to the spectacle, the two companies set up a racing booth at the Central Harbourfront, where they hosted Klara Andersson, the first woman to win an international rally event and a former Swedish Cross-Country Rally champion. Andersson showcased her RV racing abilities, proving to be a source of inspiration and highlighting that passion and dedication in sports know no boundaries.
The finale was more than just a race; it was also a celebration of talent and skill, with drivers competing on equal technological footing. It underscored the importance of driver technique and precise vehicle output adjustment, capturing the essence of motorsport in which skill, tech, and tenacity triumph.
